January 30 is the birthday of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

Islam Karimov is the founder of independent Uzbekistan, an outstanding statesman and political figure, thanks to whom the whole world learned about the country. He selflessly worked for its development and prosperity. His multifaceted political activities and noble human qualities have a special place in the hearts of the country’s people.

By the resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of January 25, 2017, the birthday of the First President of the country is widely celebrated annually.

Today, on the occasion of this date, several events are being held in Samarkand, where Islam Karimov was born and found eternal peace.

The events began with a visit to the mausoleum of Islam Karimov in Samarkand with participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abdukhakimov, Hokim of Samarkand region E. Turdimov and representatives of the public.

Flowers were laid at the Monument to Islam Karimov, erected near Registan Square. The gathered expressed warm words recalling the life and great deeds of the beloved son of Uzbekistan people. 

Roundtable discussions, scientific and practical conferences and photo exhibitions devoted to the life and activity of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are held in education, cultural institutions and other organizations of the region.
