On the occasion of May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor, the memory of our ancestors who fell valiantly in the battles for our peaceful and prosperous life was honored at the Memorial Square in Termez.

The sector leaders, military personnel, representatives of state and public organizations, law enforcement agencies, elders and youth laid flowers at the Grieving Mother Monument to the sounds of a military orchestra. 

53,365 people from Surkhandarya region fought in the Second World War. 11 thousand of them died heroically on the battlefields. Many Surkhandarya residents were awarded military orders and medals.

14 participants of the Second World War live in Surkhandarya region. Representatives of state and public organizations, military personnel, medical workers and youth regularly visit them.

The event was attended by Surkhandarya region’s Hokim Tura Bobolov.
