Grand Swiss Tournament, which is part of the qualifying stage of the World Chess Championship, kicked off in Riga on October 25.

114 strongest chess players from all over the world are taking part in the tournament. It is held according to the Swiss system in 11 rounds. The total prize fund is $425 thousand.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nodirbek Yokubboyev, Javokhir Sindorov, Nodirbek Abdusattarov and Shamsiddin Vohidov are defending the honor of Uzbekistan.

The tournament will run until November 8.
