Giorgi Kalandarishvili: “I visited five polling stations, citizens are active, and their rights are ensured at all polling stations”
18:58 / 2023-07-09

After the meeting at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Georgia Giorgi Kalandarishvili, who is participating in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as an international observer, shared his opinion with an UzA Correspondent.

– Today, we were surprised by the conditions created at the polling stations for citizens to exercise their rights, the preparation for the electoral process, and the enthusiasm of voters who are not indifferent to the future of their country, – he said. – The Central Election Commission provided information on the preparatory work for the elections and polling stations established at places. During our observations, we listened to the opinion of citizens and made sure that people prepared for this political event very responsibly. It should be recognized that each polling station is equipped with the most modern advanced technologies. In the first half of the day, I visited five polling stations. We had the opportunity to communicate with Uzbekistan citizens, who, using their constitutional rights, vote for the good of the people.

I also took part in a press conference held yesterday at the CEC. Representatives of the Commission provided information about polling stations established throughout the country, the voting procedure for older people, people with disabilities, and information about international observers and media representatives who arrived in Uzbekistan.

At the same time, at a meeting with members of the Commission, statistics related to voting were announced today. In turn, we expressed our positive opinion on the results of the observations.
