As part of the International Labor Conference, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Labor Issues Tanzila Narbayeva met with ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo, in Geneva.

Gilbert Houngbo sincerely congratulated Uzbekistan on its election to the ILO Administrative Council and highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in labor relations in Uzbekistan. He stressed that the results and experiences achieved are widely promoted in the region and the world.

During the dialogue, special attention was paid to further improving the systemic implementation of the principles of decent work and cooperation between the ILO and the Global Coalition for Social Justice. Views were exchanged on the program of Gilbert Houngbo’s first official visit to Uzbekistan.

Issues of implementation of international conventions ratified by Uzbekistan in labor and social relations and accession to other Conventions in this direction were considered at the meeting with the Director of the ILO's International Labour Standards Department, Corinne Vargas.

Considering the country’s developing private sector, an agreement was reached to establish cooperation to strengthen legal relations between employers and employees.
