Tashkent hosted a ceremony of signing an agreement on further supporting the activities of the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region in Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sarvar Khamidov, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner and UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Uzbekistan Consuelo Vidal.

The document provides for the allocation by the German government of $700 thousand to the Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region. The funds will be directed to targeted support to reduce the negative impact of the difficult environmental situation on the region’s people.
