12:51 / 2024-01-02

The German tourism information portal Reisereporter published an article entitled “Madrassas, Mosques, and Myths: By Train in Central Asia”.

As the publication notes, for centuries, caravans traveled along the Silk Road from China to Europe, and today, train passengers in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan follow in their footsteps on the Orient Silk Road Express.

The article says that it is not without reason that Registan Square in Samarkand is considered one of the most magnificent places in Central Asia and one of the most important attractions of Uzbekistan.

The publication shares with readers that here, you can buy silk fabrics and scarves, carpets, plates, and mosaic tiles – for example, from Ikram Alimov. A 40-year-old man is engaged in pottery making. The article emphasizes that his family has worked in the madrasah for seven generations.

The publication also tells about another master – Abdujalil Umar – a calligrapher, like his father and great-grandfather, who used sharpened bamboo sticks to create small works of art.
