19:33 / 2026-02-06

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Sabine Machl visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

During the meeting with the Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva, the large-scale reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan to build a democratic, legal, and social state, activities aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and issues related to strengthening the people’s social protection system were discussed.

The parties exchanged views on expanding practical cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and UN structures, particularly the promotion of joint programs and initiatives to ensure gender equality, support women, and increase their political, social, and economic participation.

During the dialogue, special attention was paid to plans for joint events within the framework of the Asian Women’s Forum, the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries, and sessions of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

The prospects of cooperation on improving the mechanisms for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at the national and regional levels, the institutional development of local councils, training, and methodological support for deputies were considered.

Following the meeting, several agreements were reached to deepen cooperation.
