Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NCHR) Akmal Saidov has met with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Sweden’s Foreign Minister, Ann Christin Linde.

The parties discussed further areas of cooperation in human rights.

Akmal Saidov provided information on the implementation of the National Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Human Rights, priority areas of gender and youth policy.

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Sweden’s Foreign Minister Ann Linde welcomed Uzbekistan's accession to the UN Human Rights Council and wished success in promoting initiatives in this direction. The gender policy of Uzbekistan, aimed at increasing the role and status of women in the socio-political system, was also positively evaluated.

The parties also discussed the possibility of implementing joint institutional development projects.

The guests were presented publications prepared jointly by the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.
