Furkat Sidikov meets with the U.S. Ambassador

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov has received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties considered the current state and prospects of further developing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States.

The readiness of the parties to continue an active and constructive political dialogue was noted.

Organizational and substantive aspects of the planned events, including the next meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States, were discussed.

Proposals on building up ties in trade, investment, innovation, agriculture, energy and others were considered.

The Ambassador informed about the commitment of the U.S. Administration to continue providing financial and technical assistance to Uzbekistan and all possible assistance in the fight against the pandemic.

Special attention was paid to the issues of regional cooperation, in particular, within the framework of the C5+1 Dialogue format.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan’s efforts to assist the Afghan people and implement infrastructure projects in the neighboring country were highly appreciated.

The meeting was also attended by USAID Uzbekistan Mission Director Mikaela Meredith.
