On May 19, 2022, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Kamarudin Jaffar, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

It was noted that the visit of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia, held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, provides an opportunity to identify new promising areas of bilateral interaction.

A wide range of issues on Uzbekistan – Malaysia agenda were discussed. The main attention was paid to the prospects for the development of cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The parties expressed their interest in intensifying political dialogue, strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, cooperation within international organizations and expanding educational and humanitarian exchanges.

The importance of taking mutual measures to increase trade and diversify its structure, as well as to restore tourist exchange and resume regular and charter flights between Uzbekistan and Malaysia was emphasized. Proposals for further promotion of economic diplomacy were considered.

The parties exchanged views on the current issues of international and regional policy.
