As previously reported, Uzbekistan delegation consisting of experts from the Development Strategy Center and heads of several regional administrations and ministries took part in the XXV Eurasian Economic Summit organized on June 7-10 by the Marmara Group Foundation for Strategic and Social Studies.
Within the framework of this prestigious summit Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center, held meetings with several international organizations, leaders of the world’s leading think tanks and companies to strengthen cooperation.
On the first day of the visit, Mr. Tulyakov met with Kubra Orakcioglu Kazan, a board member of DAMAT, a leading textile company in Türkiye, which is known in 35 countries under the D'S DAMAT brand. During the conversation, Mr. Tulyakov spoke about the activities carried out in Uzbekistan to develop the textile industry, achievements and opportunities, as well as general economic indicators.
In turn, Kubra Orakcioglu Kazan spoke about the potential of Uzbekistan for the production of textile products, in particular, the potential to turn the region into a textile hub, and expressed a desire to establish the DAMAT company activities in the country.
Following the meeting, E. Tulyakov noted that the staff of the Center is ready to assist in establishing bilateral cooperation in setting up the activities of DAMAT company in Uzbekistan.
Acquaintance with the activities of Otokar Koç Group
During the visit of Uzbekistan delegation to Türkiye, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center Eldor Tulyakov and Mayor of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikkhodjayev met with officials of the Turkish company Otokar Koç Group, which has been producing civil transport since 1963.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of launching the Otokar electric bus in Tashkent. The test drive of the Otokar electric bus took place. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to study in detail the issues and opportunities for cooperation.
The use of water-saving irrigation technologies is the time requirement
During the summit, Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center also met with Tunca Toprak, Project Manager of Hydrain, a company that specialized in water-saving irrigation technologies.
At the beginning of the conversation, E. Tulyakov noted the achievements of Uzbekistan in the field of efficient use of land and water resources, creation of favorable conditions for agribusiness, as well as the development of the green energy sector with the effective use of scientific advances, the use of alternative energy sources – in the light of today’s global climate change, and also the goals set in this regard in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.
In turn, Tunca Toprak proposed to jointly implement projects aimed at building and effective use of rainwater and groundwater reservoirs, based on the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
While focusing on the practical measures taken in Uzbekistan to use natural resources, especially water resources in agriculture and daily life, the introduction of high and cost-effective technologies in the sector, Tunca Toprak stressed the importance of discussing with Uzbek partners the experience of Turkish authorities and private businesses in this regard.
Steps for cooperation in medicine
Meetings aimed at strengthening friendly dialogue and cooperation continued also on the last day of the summit. In particular, the Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center E. Tulyakov met with Şükrü Şimşir, a member of the Executive Council of the Anatolia Hospital Group, a participant of the XXV Eurasian Economic Summit.
The Anatolia Hospital Group was established in 1993 and has 7 multidisciplinary hospitals in Antalya and several polyclinics across Türkiye. Central Management Office – Anatolia International coordinates issues related to foreign patients. Today, the Anatolia Hospital Group operates mainly in the fields of cardiology, ophthalmology, urology, allergology, gastroenterology, radiology, gynecology, neurophysiology and pulmonology.
At the meeting, E. Tulyakov and Şükrü Şimşir discussed the issues of establishing cooperation of the Anatolia Hospital Group with Uzbek doctors, in particular, in the spheres of the medical sector management, training, exchange of experience, the introduction of advanced medical technologies and medical equipment in Uzbekistan, negotiations on the construction of new modern hospitals.
Mr. Tulyakov invited representatives of the Anatolia Hospital Group to Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to organize meetings with relevant ministries and agencies.
E. Tulyakov briefed on the efforts being made in Uzbekistan to develop the medical sector, improve the quality of medical services to the population and the results achieved, and noted that the Development Strategy aims to continue these reforms, in particular, it sets such goals, as increasing the share of the private sector in the industry to 25%, expanding the coverage of medical services, efficient use of budget funds, centralization of medical services and introduction of health insurance.
According to the Development Strategy Center, following the meeting, the parties agreed to study the current state of the above issues and develop an action plan to implement the necessary measures to address them.
