Acting Hokim of Tashkent city Shavkat Umurzakov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kim Hee-sang.

According to the Tashkent city administration, Shavkat Umurzakov cordially welcomed the Ambassador and stressed that Tashkent highly appreciates relations with Korea and is interested in implementing promising projects.

Ambassador Kim Hee-sang expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and said that developing relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan is also a priority for the Republic of Korea.

During the conversation, the issue of reconstructing Seoul Park in Tashkent and improving the efficiency of investment projects was discussed separately. Kim Hee-sang revealed that Seoul City Hall plans to allocate $340,000 for the park’s renovation this year. The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also allocate $152,000 for this purpose. The importance of practical assistance from the Hokimiyat of Tashkent in the timely and high-quality implementation of these works was emphasized.

Shavkat Umurzakov drew attention to the fact that Seoul Park is a symbol of friendship between the two countries, and promised to provide practical assistance in the reconstruction process. At the same time, he stated that Tashkent would use all its opportunities for the comprehensive development of cooperation in the investment and proposed organizing an internal group consisting of officials from the two sides – the Republic of Korea and the Tashkent city administration, who would jointly consider promising areas and develop plans to launch new projects.

The Ambassador of Korea fully supported this proposal. The parties stated that practical dialogues would be continued.
