From Bogishamol to Baku
Lemons and oranges grown in Bogishamol mahalla of Kasan district of Namangan region are exported to Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
“The lemonarium, which occupies 12 acres, is 5-6 tons”, said farmer Murodjon Eshonkhujaev. – We collect 20-25 kilograms from each tree. Mostly lemon ripens in winter. With the help of a special method, we can store fruits in cold stores until August.
This mahalla is home to 6,200 people in 1,224 families. Almost the entire working-age population is engaged in the cultivation of lemons and cherries. During studying the socio-economic situation, the responsible persons outlined measures to expand this type of activity.
