The leaders of the foreign ministries of the five states of Central Asia met in Tashkent on 7 April 2017.

Abdulaziz Komilov, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Kayrat Abdrakhmanov, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Erlan Abdyldayev, the minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic; Sirojiddin Aslov, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan; and Wepa Hajyyew, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan; exchanged opinions on the situation in the Central Asian region, interaction on topical areas of cooperation, including within international and regional organizations, and also on a joint search for ways of resolving existing common problems.

Abdulaziz Komilov, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, opened the meeting. Then the leaders of the delegations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan made speeches.

Participants in the session also heard information by the minister of foreign affairs of Kazakhstan about current work at the UN Security Council.

In the course of the exchange of opinions, the sides confirmed the mutual usefulness of this format of ministerial meetings.

At the conclusion of the session, an agreement was reached to conduct such forums of Central Asian states’ foreign ministers on a regular basis.
