Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan meets with OSCE Secretary General

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov has met with the OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.

The parties considered a wide range of issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and the OSCE.

Vladimir Norov informed the OSCE delegation in detail about the regional policy of Uzbekistan, the main goal of which is to turn Central Asia into a region of security, stability and sustainable development, its integration into global economic and transport ties.

In turn, Helga Schmid highly appreciated the efforts of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create favorable conditions for the development of cooperation and good neighborliness in the region.

The main attention was paid to the intensification of cooperation in ecology and environmental protection, in particular, to strengthen the response to security risks associated with climate change, natural resource management, and the elimination of the ecological catastrophe of the Aral Sea.

The parties also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
