Foreign Minister meets with the President of Afghanistan

Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, attending the Munich Security Conference, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

On February 14, delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, attending the Munich Security Conference, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

The Minister conveyed to the President of Afghanistan and to the entire Afghanistan people sincere respect and the kindest wishes of peace and wellbeing on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Current issues of cooperation within the framework of launching a peaceful political dialogue in Afghanistan, which should be carried out by the Afghans themselves, were discussed at the meeting.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani thanked the President of Uzbekistan and fraternal Uzbekistan people for consistent and energetic efforts on promoting the peace process in his country, its socio-economic revival.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other issues of Uzbekistan – Afghanistan agenda were also considered at the meeting. Prospects for implementation of joint transport, energy and other projects with Uzbekistan aimed at creating trans-Afghan transit corridors and strengthening regional economic cooperation were discussed.
