As previously reported, Bukhara hosts International Forum “Global inter-parliamentary cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.
The forum participants discussed thematic issues during the sessions. The participants of the first session spoke about the role of parliament in ensuring the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The session was moderated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev and UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser.

The participants addressed the issues of reducing hunger, improving food security and nutrition, promoting sustainable agriculture, as well as the role of the National People’s Congress in promoting the achievement of sustainable development goals, regional cooperation and the common interests of Asian countries.

At the event, views were exchanged on the work carried out in this direction and the elimination of emerging problems.
The session participants discussed the role of parliament in achieving the SDGs in the context of the transition to a green economy.
