The resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of May 27, 2023, “On measures to develop the service sector in museums”, approved the Address Plan of archaeological monuments subject to museumification in 2023-2026.
The Cultural Heritage Agency, together with the Academy of Sciences, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, hokimiyats of regions, and the city of Tashkent, with the involvement of experts and specialists in archeology, plans to conduct research work, conserve archaeological monuments and repurpose them into tourist sites, and create open-air museums.

Based on this resolution, regional restoration centers carried out several works at the archaeological sites “Chilonzor Oqtepa” in the city of Tashkent, “Dalverzintepa” in Surkhandarya region, “Mingtepa” in Andijan region, “Sherozkala” in Samarkand region, “Koy-Krylgan-Kala” in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The Cultural Heritage Agency allocated one billion UZS for the museumification of “Sherozkala” archaeological monument, 500 million for the restoration of “Chilonzor Oqtepa” archaeological monument, 800 million for the “Dalverzintepa” archaeological monument. All of them, according to the resolution, have been turned into tourist sites.

Work on the memorial complexes was carried out strictly within the framework of design and estimate documentation.
