32 fish farming development projects implemented in Jizzakh Region

This year they are to produce 13 thousand 650 tonnes of fish.Special attention is being paid in the country to satisfying the population’s need for fish products, further extending economic reforms in this sector and strengthening the material and technical base of farms working in this sphere.
A resolution dated 29 August 2015 of the Cabinet of Minsters of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On approving a blueprint for ensuring healthy food provision for the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2015-2020 and a range of measures” is an important programme document in this area.
A new project has been implemented at the Gift Form Okean fish farm in the territory of the “Manas” village citizens’ gathering in Dostlik District. The farm’s water reservoir was expanded to 9 hectares, and such prolific fish as white amur and carp are being raised there.
“In implementing this new project, we used a 325 million som credit from the Jizzakh Regional branch of Ipotekabank. We sold 11 tonnes of fish last year, and this year we intend to double the amount of the product due to the expansion of the reservoir and the use of intensive methods of fish farming,” says the head of the farm, Abror Shodiyev.
The volume of fish raising in the region is increasing with every passing year. In 2010, 1 thousand 955 tonnes of fish was raised, whereas last year this figure exceeded 10 thousand 850 tonnes. This year, 13 thousand 650 tonnes of fish is to be produced. Now there are nearly 200 fish farms functioning in the region.
The fact that a big part of the Aydar-Arnasoy lakes is in the territory of the region further expands possibilities for fish farming development.
Promising projects being implemented in the current years to efficiently use these lakes and to create artificial reservoirs of water are an important contribution to ensuring food supplies’ abundance.
