Tashkent hosted the first International Half Marathon dedicated to Navruz national holiday.

The solemn event held on this occasion was attended by members of the government, heads of state and public organizations, sports stars, famous cultural and art figures, diplomats, representatives of international organizations and the public.

More than 1,650 professional athletes and amateurs from 28 countries took part in the marathon organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Athletic Federation, Uzbekistan Youth Union and Tashkent city administration. They competed over a distance of 5 and 21 kilometers.

In the competition over a distance of 21 kilometers the first place among men was taken by the representative of China Lee Young. After him, an athlete from Kyrgyzstan Adelet Kishtabekov and Uzbekistan’s Andrey Petrov crossed the finish line.

The victory among women in this distance was won by the representative of Kyrgyzstan Darya Maslova. Uzbekistan’s Sitora Khamidova and Yekaterina Tunkuskova went up to the second and third steps of the pedestal.

In the competition over a distance of 5 kilometers, Otabek Toshkuvvatov, Humoyun Mahkamov and Khurshid Akhmadaliev were the best. In the women’s competition at this distance, Azizakhon Mirzaakbarova, Shokhsanam Khurramova and Marjona Baratova became in the top three.

Folk festivals were held within the framework of the Half Marathon.
