The first Omicron COVID-19 variant case has been confirmed in Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Health, the COVID-19 Omicron variant was detected on January 7 in a foreign citizen who arrived in Uzbekistan from abroad.

Due to the detection of the Omicron, the country will strengthen precautions and restrictions.
