First Deputy Chairman of the Senate takes part in the regional launch of the UN Human Development Report

The regional launch of the UNDP 2020 Human Development Report on “The Next Frontier: Human Development and the Anthropocene” has taken place via videoconference.

According to the Senate, the event was attended by the UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, UNDP Assistant Administrator, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, heads of state and government, ministries and agencies of foreign countries and others.

The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev. In his speech, he informed about the activities carried out in the country to combat the coronavirus infection, ensure food security, provide benefits and preferences to entrepreneurs and other measures taken in Uzbekistan.

Sodik Safoyev emphasized that the leadership of the country attaches great importance to the development of comprehensive and multifaceted cooperation with the UN. This is evidenced by the adoption and implementation of the provisions of the roadmap, which includes key aspects of interaction, the promotion of short, medium and long-term plans and initiatives, including the development of the UN program for Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2021-2025 in Uzbekistan.

The Senator noted the measures taken to implement the humanitarian, environmental policy in Uzbekistan, including the development of international cooperation for the practical implementation of complex measures aimed at improving the environmental and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea region with the support of the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region.
