A training-seminar has been conducted in Samarqand on the subject of “the organizational-legal basis for elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The event held by Samarqand district electoral commission No 7 in cooperation with the Samarqand regional territorial department of the independent institute for monitoring civil society formation was attended by members of the commission, specialists and experts on electoral law, representatives of political parties and employees of mass media.

It was noted at the event that intense preparations were being conducted in the region for the 4 December 2016 elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Election campaign events are being conducted in accordance with the main events programme for the preparation and conduct of the elections, approved by a resolution of the Central Electoral Commission.

“Our country’s electoral system has been improved gradually in the years of independence, and a firm national electoral system conforming to high democratic requirements has been created, ” says the chairman of Samarqand district electoral commission No 7, F.Toshev.

Speeches were heard on such topics as district electoral commissions’ role in the preparation and conduct of elections, mass media’s role in ensuring the transparency of electoral processes and political parties’ participation in elections. There was also a talk about the essence of the latest changes and additions to the electoral legislation.
