An event dedicated to the final stage of the Teach For Uzbekistan program was held at the “Yoshlar” camp in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region. This large-scale initiative was organized in cooperation with the Youth Affairs Agency.
The event was attended by local and international experts, program participants, children from low-income families, and media representatives. Among the speakers were the Director of the Teach For Uzbekistan program, Umida Yuldasheva, international Teach For All network expert Satyam Mishra, and others.
According to the organizers, from July 30 to August 4 this year, a summer educational camp was held at the “Yoshlar” camp in Bostanlyk district for children from low-income families, serving as the final stage of the preparatory process for participants of the Teach For Uzbekistan program.
Satyam Mishra, an expert from the international Teach For All network, noted that this initiative is beneficial to young teachers in every respect.
– I recently completed a master’s degree in education at Harvard University. It is a great honor for me to work in Uzbekistan under the Teach For Uzbekistan program. The main reason I came here is to help integrate technology into schools across the country, raise the quality of education to international standards, and create opportunities for every child. We selected 31 top participants and sent them to schools in Surkhandarya region. They received training in key areas such as modern pedagogy, effective use of technology, social-emotional learning, and growth mindset. These skills will enhance the competitiveness of the country’s schools. I have worked in 19 countries around the world, but I can say with confidence that Uzbekistan has become the most valuable country for me. I am pleased to apply my knowledge in practice and contribute to the positive changes taking place here. Teach For Uzbekistan serves as an essential platform for preparing inspiring teachers for children in underserved areas. Its goal is to work in partnership with the government to ensure quality education in the country, – Mr. Mishra emphasized.
As part of the event, a dialogue was also held with teachers who participated in the first stage of the program.
