The metropolitan Lotte City Hotel Tashkent Palace has hosted a festival of national meals Tasanno 2014 in dedication to the 23rd anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

The festive event was organized by the Council of Societies of Friendship and Cultural-Enlightenment Ties of Uzbekistan with Foreign Countries, jointly with embassies of foreign nations in our country and the ethnic cultural centers.

Main participants of the festival were personnel of diplomatic missions and international organizations, representatives of friendship societies as well as guests from abroad.

It was stressed at the opening ceremony of the occasion that a great attention is paid in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Islam Karimov to the preservation and enrichment of national cultural traditions and the further consolidation of cultural bonds with other nations.

Instrumental in the study of traditions and customs of other peoples is the familiarization with their national cuisine. After all, cookery is one of the crucial and traditional elements of hospitality. In this context, the organizers underscored that the principal end sought by the festival competition is the consolidation of friendship bonds and mutual understanding among peoples. It is noteworthy that the festival Tasanno 2014, which gathered the representatives of more than 15 countries at a single friendly table, has met the expectations of the inspirers to the full extent.

Guests and participants of the festival were able to get familiar with meals of Uzbek, Chinese, Latvian, Indian, Arab, Turkish and other national cuisines, with customs and traditions, history and cultures of these peoples.

Representatives of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman were named winners of the Grand Prix of the festival. The first place went to the personnel of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, while representatives of Egypt and India came second and third, respectively.
