Adras and satin fabrics made of silk are very popular not only in Uzbekistan, but also abroad. The main attention is paid to ensuring employment of the population, increasing the income of families through the development of national handicrafts in remote villages.

The Craftsmen Center, launched in the citizens’ assembly of Qamishtepa mahalla in Qushtepa district, has established a workshop for carpet weaving, adras, velvet, embroidery, sewing of national clothes, as well as a workshop for the manufacture of copper products.

Work is in full swing in the workshops for the production of silk carpets and national fabrics under the guidance of the master for the creation of silk carpets and natural dyes, included in the National Catalog of the Masters of Folk Applied Arts of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Davletov and his spouse Nargiza Sherkhujayeva. More than 100 students have been attracted, and the employment of women is ensured here based on the “master-apprentice” tradition. 32 women are being taught the secrets of embroidery.

“Our silk products have long admired the whole world”, says I. Davletov. – The demand for handmade silk carpets, handicrafts made using natural dyes is very high in Europe and the United States. Here we teach professions to young people, especially women. We are taking measures for their subsequent employment.
