Fergana region is famous for its unique beauty of nature, historical monuments, places of worship. The ancient cities of Kokand and Margilan, as well as Rishtan district, are always full of guests, tourists from all over the country and the world.
In the region, the main attention is paid to creating favorable conditions for the development of tourism, opening new tourist routes, familiarizing tourists with historical monuments, examples of national handicrafts and folk applied arts.
Last year, the total number of local and foreign tourists in the region reached 401 thousand people. The number of tourists from foreign countries is 47 thousand people. Large-scale work is being carried out in new tourist destinations – eco, agro, ethnic, sports and medical tourism. Contacts have been established with Russia, Turkey, Germany, Korea, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.
The state pays attention to the issues of further improving the quality of tourist services and the creation of guest houses. Last year, 46 new family guest houses were created in the region, bringing the total number to 198. Family guest houses are becoming more and more popular among tourists. They prefer not richly furnished modern hotels, but cozy Uzbek houses, decorated in the national style. Guests are interested in customs, family traditions, the way of life of our people. In Fergana district alone, 25 guest houses have been created. They have all the conditions for high-quality service and ensuring the safety of guests.
In addition, national handicraft centers attract foreign visitors. In this regard, new handicraft centers were opened in 13 districts of the region based on public-private partnerships. Of particular interest are carpet weaving, wood carving, jewelry, metal engraving, cradle making, national clothing and footwear.
Ecotourism center “Mehrigiyo” in Uchkuprik district has also become a center of attraction for tourists. The delight and surprise of foreign guests are caused by goji berries, papaya, medlar, coffee, kiwi, bananas and other citrus fruits, fruit and berry crops, as well as a plantation of medicinal plants grown on 25 hectares of land. The so-called “Fergana experience” in growing medicinal plants has been formed here. Unique medicinal plants grown in huge areas are highly valued in ecomedicine. The health center “Doctor Ali”, a phytobar, an exhibition of medicinal preparations from plants, and a gastronomic center operate here.
Trade in medicinal decoctions, ointments, and powders made from plants has been established. The center employs 150 specialists and workers.
Tourists are also interested in the “Vodiy Tulporlari” equestrian complex in the city of Kuvasay, LLC Straus Farm in Rishtan district, and the “Baston Buva” eco-agro-tourism institution, specializing in sand treatment in Buvayda district.
