The FAO has signed an agreement with the Tashkent State Agrarian University within the framework of the project “Sustainable management of forests in mountain and valley areas of Uzbekistan”.

Based on this document, FAO will provide financial assistance to the University for the development of an Action Plan for the restoration of degraded forests, sustainable pasture management, the creation of plantations, the development of production of non-wood forest resources at 4 pilot sites located in Namangan, Syrdarya and Kashkadarya regions.

The project has been implemented jointly with FAO and the Global Environment Facility since 2018. Large-scale activity is being carried out on sustainable forest management, the creation of information systems and electronic maps of forest areas using satellite navigation in Syrdarya, Pap, Kitab and Dehkanabad forestry.
