FAO, in cooperation with the Cluster of Innovations and Research on Sustainable Development, is implementing a project on the effective management of digital agriculture based on GIS technologies and spatial data in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the project, trainings are held to demonstrate the capabilities of GIS tools for smart agriculture. One such training course was organized by FAO at Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Cluster of Innovations and Research on Sustainable Development. The courses were held for specialists of 13 regional departments of the Ministry, who are engaged in the introduction and further development of geoinformation technologies in the regions of Uzbekistan. The acquired knowledge and skills of working with geodatabase allow the Ministry’s employees to improve their activities, develop the practice of using digital technologies in agricultural production even in the most remote regions of the country.

The project demonstrates the advantages of introducing innovative technologies in agriculture, while increasing the potential of workers in the sphere.
