On December 16, FAO and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on statistics organized a workshop on the implementation of the Food Insecurity Experience Scale – FIES in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that assessing the extent of hunger and food insecurity is essential for the development and monitoring of policies aimed at addressing these problems. FIES is a global standard for assessing people's experiences in food security issues. By 2017, 22 countries had already included FIES in their national household surveys.

Experts made presentations in which a detailed analysis of the results of sample surveys of households in Uzbekistan under the FIES module for July-December 2021 was presented. Issues of further implementation of the FIES module in the process of studying the state of households in 2022 were discussed.
