During the roundtable discussion on “Belt and Road: New Opportunities for Central Asian Countries”, which took place at the International Institute for Central Asia in Tashkent, the Acting Director of IICA, Fanil Kadirov, emphasized the efforts of Central Asian countries and China in ensuring sustainable development of the region.
– Central Asia, the geographical center and main route of the legendary Silk Road for centuries, connected trade links throughout Eurasia, becoming a strategically important hub trading region.
By jointly developing transport corridors, providing each other with access to markets, and exchanging investments, resources, and technologies, China and Central Asian countries are making efforts to ensure sustainable development of the region.
The Summit of the Heads of State, held on May 18-19 this year in the city of Xi'an, reaffirmed the parties’ commitment to actively increasing cooperation within the BRI. And Uzbekistan has formed a clear vision of long-term priorities for cooperation within the framework of this global project. Our conceptual understanding is based on the tasks defined in the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy.
Uzbekistan is interested in creating high-tech industrial parks and scientific and innovation clusters, forming free and specialized economic zones to produce modern, competitive, high-tech products.
