Intensive preparations were made in towns and villages of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston, in the north-west of Uzbekistan, for the holiday of kindness and magnanimity – Ramadan Eid.As part of the implementation of the presidential decree dated 1 July 2016 “On celebrating Ramadan Eid”, special attention is being paid to arranging festive events in localities in a peaceful and calm atmosphere and in a way that conforms to Uzbek people’s national values. Large-scale improvement and landscaping work is being carried out.
“People’s local-self government bodies are coordinating this work,” says Khojaboy Elmuratov, chairman of the Qoraqalpoghiston department of the Mahalla charity public foundation.
Big preparations are under way in neighbourhoods for the Ramadan Eid, which is a holiday that is in conformity with Uzbek people’s traditional values. Round-table conversations are being held about ideas of sovereignty, the strengthening of the country’s peace and the propagation of a healthy lifestyle, which serves for the younger generation’s upbringing in the spirit of loyalty to the homeland and respect for the national values.
Young people are visiting lone elders and veterans to enquire about their condition and to do voluntary work for them, which is also an expression of kindness and generosity in its own right.
“Long live our President Islam Karimov, who is at the forefront of all this good charity work,” says 95 year-old Reyimboy bobo Rakhmetov of Ellikqala.
