The linguists of Karakalpak language are involved in development of this dictionary.

– The four-volume Explanatory Dictionary of Karakalpak language was first published in 1992, – said the Head of the Republican Terminology Center under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Sh.Abdinazimov. – New words appear in Karakalpak language together with the progress, and some obsolete words are out of everyday use, which, in turn, requires reissuing an updated version of this dictionary.

According to the Director of Karakalpak Scientific Research Institute for Humanities of Karakalpak branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, candidate of philological sciences A.Alniyazov, the publication of the updated explanatory dictionary will serve to enriching the Karakalpak literary language and creating highly artistic works.

Issues of introduction of Karakalpak language into modern technological programs, the Google Translator app, as well as creation of electronic versions of the dictionary were discussed at the meeting.
