19:24 / 2022-03-23

According to the instructions of the President of Uzbekistan, given during a visit to the Republic of Karakalpakstan on 23-24 February this year, large-scale experimental studies have been launched on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea.

“Thus, it is planned to expand areas with plantations adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region, increase the productivity of land use, introduce water-saving and salinity-reducing technologies”, says Kamoliddin Idrisov, Deputy Director for Science and Production of the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin.

– For this purpose, it is planned to implement an experimental study at six points in the dried-up area of the Aral Sea, which will be carried out by scientists from the Center of Genomics and Bioinformatics, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Plant Biology together with the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin.

On 17-18 March this year, scientists from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry carried out soil treatment at the designated areas using an effective salting-out agent. As an experiment, 15 species of plants adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region will be planted, which will be scientifically monitored.
