In April, the exhibition “Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” will open in two cities in Italy – Florence and Venice.
Through this project, the Art and Culture Development Foundation will present to the international community an essential but somewhat unknown chapter in the history of art in the first half of the twentieth century. The exhibition will be divided into two parts: “Form and Symbol” will be presented at the demonstration site of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and “Ray and Light” will be presented in the palace of the city of Florence.

The exhibitions, curated by Silvia Burini and Giuseppe Barbieri, representatives of the Center for Russian Art Research at the Ca' Foscari University, will feature 172 works of painting and photography created in the first half of the twentieth century, as well as national jewelry and applied art from the Karakalpak State Museum of Art named after Igor Savitsky and the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan. Their presentation will be the first high-level project to display the connection between the best collections of two major museums in Uzbekistan.
The “Ray and Light” part of the exhibition will be presented from April 16 to June 30, and the “Form and Symbol” part will be presented to art fans from April 17 to September 29.
