As part of the Tashkent Modernism XX/XXI project, the conference “Where in the World is Tashkent?” has started.

An excursion along the “cultural trail” was organized for conference participants, developed by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan and the Milan Bureau Laboratorio Permanente.

The cultural trail is a way to discover the beauty of Tashkent and contribute to its development. It reveals the historical structure of the city and determines the strategy for further developing the capital of Uzbekistan. Rather than presenting modernist buildings as free-standing monuments, the trail reveals their relationship to their environment and the potential to create an expanded system of collective spaces.

The “cultural trail” route connected two dozen buildings presented in the Tashkent Modernism XX/XXI project and conceptualized as cultural heritage sites.
