10:07 / 2023-07-06

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Hatori Takashi and Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov signed Exchange Notes for the project “Provision of Scholarships for Personnel Training” for 300 million yen (about 2 million 190 thousand dollars), which is carried out within the framework of the gratuitous aid program of the Government of Japan. Mr. Abdurakhmonov and the Head of the JICA Representative Office in Uzbekistan, Bito Yoshibumi, signed the Grant Agreement for this project.

As part of the cooperation, in 2024, up to 18 young civil servants of Uzbekistan will have the opportunity to study in Japan in the master’s program (2 years) and 1 young civil servant in the doctoral program (3 years). It is expected that the implementation of this project will allow the personnel responsible for the country’s future to acquire the professional knowledge necessary for the development of society and contribute to the development of government policy. Also, these personnel are expected to contribute to the deepening of mutual understanding and further strengthening of friendly relations.

For further developing bilateral relations, the Japanese Government intends to continue work on developing personnel in Uzbekistan and promoting mutual understanding between the two countries.
