The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan has started a new project for the purpose of popularizing book reading among pupils.

The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan has started a new project for the purpose of popularizing book reading among pupils.

In line with the project, there will be propagators of book reading at general education schools. Young people will be making efforts to propagate book reading among their peers, the press service of the ministry has announced.

Such propagators will be selected by an open vote from among 7 – 10th grade pupils, and they will be working together with schools’ librarians to further raise book-reading culture.

A separate place will be allocated in school libraries for these reading propagators. They will establish and manage clubs of book lovers. With the help of school administrations, they will conduct various educational events, meetings and contests for the purpose of popularizing reading.

The ministry recommends that the chief of all schools provide help for propagators of book reading.
