An event has been held in Jizzakh to widely attract women and girls to the craftsmanship sector. It was on the subject of their role in the economic development of the country.

The event was arranged by the Jizzakh regional council of the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party of Uzbekistan in partnership with the regional offices of the Tadbirkor Ayol union of businesswomen of Uzbekistan and the Hunarmand (craftsman) association. It was attended by craftspeople, artists and young people.

It has been said that a Presidential decree dated 17 November 2017 “On measures to provide comprehensive support to craftspeople and to further develop craftsmanship” is an important programme document in taking this sector’s development to a higher level.

It has also been said that special attention is paid to developing craftsmanship in this country.

During the event, there was discussion about achievements in the development of women’s craftsmanship and existing shortcomings and about possibilities for the creation of jobs for housewives and college graduates.

There was an exchange of opinions on removing obstacles to the work of craftswomen. Specialists gave detailed information about simplifications and privileges for craftsmanship as specified in norm-setting regulatory documents on craftsmanship.

There was also a question and answer session on banking services being offered by commercial banks, preferential credits and tax breaks.

“A priority area specified in the party’s pre-election platform is ensuring employment for people. We are stepping up cooperation with public and state establishments in helping to develop craftsmanship and family entrepreneurship among women, girls and young people,” says Sh.Musayeva, a specialist of the regional council of the party.

As part of the event, there was an exhibition of products made by craftspeople and artists. Prizes were given to winners of such nominations as “the best craftswoman”, “the best artist” and “the best entrepreneur”.
