14:28 / 2025-08-16

A creative team from Euronews, one of the world’s most renowned media outlets, visited Namangan region to prepare a report on the process of making Chust knives.

The artisans, who carefully preserve ancient traditions, showed the process of creating, decorating, and polishing each knife by hand. In particular, the workshop’s work was captured, including heating and metalworking, as well as the application of national patterns.

The Chust district is known for its centuries-old traditions of making knives and skullcaps. These products have made the region famous all over the world.

Akhadjon Abdurakhimov from Duzandi mahalla, a representative of the seventh generation of the dynasty of knife makers, is known for his Damascus knives. In ancient times, in Gova village, our ancestors made them by mixing three types of metals. Today, they are exported to the CIS countries.

Rahimjon Ubaydullayev from Bogi Eram mahalla creates unique knives. He not only preserves the traditions of the Chust school of crafts, but also actively participates in craft competitions throughout Uzbekistan, receiving well-deserved recognition.
