Within the framework of the Eurasian Congress – 2023, a session on high technologies as a driver of Eurasian integration was held with the participation of responsible persons from the energy industry of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and the CIS Electric Power Council.
During the conversation, the role, prospects, and contribution of high technologies, particularly nuclear technologies, as a driver for the development of both integration processes and the national economies of the countries of the Eurasian space were discussed.
Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, in particular, emphasized the role of the exchange of high-tech goods as an impetus for the development of the region’s economy:

– Not only the volumes and indicators of gross trade, but also its quality, a high-tech component, are of primary interest to governments and businesses. In this sense, nuclear technologies occupy one of the top places.
Taras Kupchikov, Chairman of the CIS Electric Power Council Executive Committee, noted that technology is now an integral part of energy security and sovereignty. To realize the technological potential of the CIS in terms of building a modern energy system, the speaker identified five key areas – the development of industrial electronics, digitalization, and the construction of flexible power transmission networks. He singled out the development and application of single standards as the main direction:

– The most important thing is developing and applying single production standards and single standards for equipment. This is important because the energy systems of the CIS operate in a single energy system. They work in parallel. It is impossible to develop the energy system of a single state without observing the standards since the energy systems operating similarly affect each other. And speaking more broadly, for example, about the prospect of expanding markets and exporting equipment and technologies, this implies using uniform standards.
In his speech, the Rector of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) Vladimir Shevchenko spoke about the vital role of this higher education institution in training technical specialists for work in science-intensive industries, in particular, about the experience being implemented in the countries of the Central Asian region. Four years ago, in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, and 2022, MEPhI branches were opened under Kazakh National University.
Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, Director General of the National Energy Holding of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Baigaziev, Head of Educational Foundation “Talent and Success” also addressed the session.
