18:07 / 2023-07-13

On July 11 this year, Brussels hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Nematov with representatives of the European Commission and the EU Council.

The European side was informed about the results of the Early Presidential Election in Uzbekistan, the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, and the foreign policy initiatives of Tashkent.

In turn, the European side, expressing support for the results of the Uzbekistan Presidential Election, called them “an indicator of a high level of trust in Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the ongoing political and socio-economic transformations on the part of the population”. According to them, this is a strong mandate to continue the policy of reforms he initiated.

Moreover, the European Union representatives emphasized the success of the foreign policy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, carried out in recent years, and aimed at developing political dialogue, strengthening and maintaining the regional spirit of good neighborliness, mutual support, and understanding, building up mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

In addition, European politicians emphasized that in recent years Uzbekistan has been dynamically developing relations with non-regional states, including the EU countries. Tashkent’s ongoing open and effective foreign policy activity increases trust. As a result, it has a positive effect on strengthening the political and economic stability of the country, as well as the Central Asian region.

European colleagues highly appreciated Tashkent’s foreign policy in Central Asia, which contributes to strengthening relations of mutual trust and makes a huge contribution to ensuring stability, security, and sustainable development of the region.
