Delegation of the European Union and heads of diplomatic missions of member states, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection and the UN Representative Office in Uzbekistan visited the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The delegation visited Karakalpakstan to become familiar with the work carried out in Uzbekistan to mitigate the consequences of the Aral Sea ecological crisis, and the implementation of projects within the framework of the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region, established under the auspices of the UN.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the Muynak Research and Production Site of the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, located in Muynak district. An agreement was reached between the EU Delegation and the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin on planting 27 thousand seedlings of ornamental trees and desert plants in the Aral Sea region with the financial support of the EU and the creation of a green zone.
With the participation of members of the delegation, representatives of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, relevant ministries, committees and the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin, work on planting seedlings was launched. The participants planted more than 50 seedlings on the territory of the Muynak Research and Production Site, as well as over 50 saplings of saxaul on the territory of the Cemetery of Ships open-air museum in Muynak district.
