Today, 10 May, the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan marks the launch of Europe Day in Uzbekistan – annual events commemorating the values of peace and unity.
In 2022 the Europe Day is celebrated also as a part of European Year of Youth and focuses on the vital role the young people play, in both – Europe and Uzbekistan to anchoring these values.
“Half of Uzbekistan’s population is below 30, such a vital part of the society, contributing immensely with their creativity, innovation, resources and a good-will. They are key to our future, beacons of hope for peace and for a better world. But they need more access to education, skills and opportunities. I am happy to say that youth are integral contributors across all the sectors of EU – Uzbekistan cooperation, be those environmental issues, human rights or economic development. It is equally important that youth become participants of decision-making and all societal processes in the country”, points out Charlotte Adriaen, the Ambassador of the Delegation of European Union to Uzbekistan, illustrated in a video address.
At a press conference held by the Delegation of the European Union in Tashkent, several events and roundtable discussions dedicated to the Europe Day have been announced.
