ESCAP celebrates Navruz
Festive event on the occasion of Navruz was held at the headquarters of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Bangkok.
On March 21, 2019, a festive event on the occasion of Navruz was held at the headquarters of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Bangkok. It was organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan jointly with diplomatic missions of India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey.
Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana warmly congratulated participants with Navruz and noted that this holiday symbolizes awakening of nature, peace and good neighborliness.
Bangkok dance school presented Uzbek music and dances at the event. The guests were also presented videos about historical-cultural heritage and tourism potential of modern Uzbekistan.
Representatives of official, cultural-humanitarian circles of Thailand, diplomatic corps, compatriots also had a chance to try festive dishes of Uzbek cuisine.
According to the Consulate General, the UNESCAP Executive Secretary expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for organization of holiday and confirmed the intention to visit Uzbekistan to discuss cooperation prospects in mid-2019.
