Nukus hosted a press conference on “The state of waste management in the territories” at the initiative of the Karakalpak Party Organization of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of the Aral Sea Region B. Alikhonov, Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis L. Seitova and others. Issues of further improvement of the management system of works related to household and construction waste generated in economic sectors and settlements, the introduction of high-tech waste processing plants, the broad involvement of business entities in the industry, the implementation of public-private partnership projects were discussed.

It was noted that over the past period of the year, large-scale activities were carried out within the framework of the implementation of the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of September 29, 2020 “On measures to further improve the management system of activities in the household and construction waste management”. 

Together with Germany, it is planned to implement the “Re-cultivation of household waste landfills and construction of new landfills” project, within the framework of which it is planned to build 4 landfills for sorting waste and 8 waste transshipment points worth $120 million in Karakalpakstan.

The shortcomings were noted, opinions and recommendations for their elimination were expressed at the event.
