The total number of people wishing to work is 1 million 335 thousand people, of which 15 percent are young people at the age from 15 to 30, 12.8 percent are women.
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that Uzbekistan highly appreciates the fruitful cooperation with the International Labour Organization, which in its 100-year-long activity has been promoting social justice and ensuring the rights of workers in the world.
At the event, international experts noted that today views on labor relations are outdated, society needs new forms and types of development.
In 2018, the US Department of Labor excluded Uzbekistan from the list of countries that use child labor in growing and harvesting cotton, and a preliminary report by the International Labour Organization noted that Uzbekistan has significant shifts in countering forced labor.
Priority issues such as ensuring employment of the population, streamlining labor migration, and fundamental principles of prospects of labor relations were discussed in detail.
