Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with UNICEF’s Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Regina De Dominicis, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit.
The parties discussed important aspects of cooperation and proposals aimed at further strengthening mutually beneficial ties.
During the dialogue, proposals were put forward to conduct the Second National Nutrition Survey in 2024-2025, study the state of perinatal health, growth and development of children, increase the effectiveness of the prevention and treatment of hereditary diseases, as well as strengthen practical cooperation to improve the social protection system for children.
Views were also exchanged on improving the legal and institutional framework of education, inclusive learning, and healthcare.

An agreement was reached to join efforts to further expand the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) scope jointly with the UNICEF office in Uzbekistan and involve specialists from government organizations and civil society institutions. The need for the speedy adoption of a national action plan to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen constructive and effective cooperation based on practical projects.
