Emek Üşenmez: “We will publish Chigatay manuscripts together with Uzbek scientists”
17:00 / 2021-09-18

As previously reported, Khiva hosts the International Cultural Forum “Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations”.

More than 300 participants from 60 countries are taking part in this forum, held as part of the Cultural Legacy Week.

Doctor of Istanbul University Emek Üşenmez was interview by UzA Correspondent Nasiba Ziyodullayeva. Dr. Emek Üşenmez shared his views about the significance of the forum “Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations” and cooperation with Uzbekistan scientists.

– I am glad to attend the International Cultural Forum. This international event will serve to familiarize the peoples of many states with cultural and historical monuments and will become a platform for mutual dialogue.

I took part in Tashkent conference with a report on Chigatay manuscripts. More than 200 Chigatay manuscripts are currently kept in London. There are manuscripts of Alisher Navoi, Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur, Mansur Chigatay, Atoi, Sakkoki and others. I studied and analyzed them.

A 200-page book in English has been prepared based on Chigatay manuscripts. We are cooperating with Uzbekistan scientists in publishing this book, first in English, then in Uzbek. An Uzbek scientist will translate it.

Since 2007, I have been studying the Uzbek language and literature. Since 2008, as a researcher, I have studied manuscripts stored at Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies. Then continued my research in London. Later, for about a year and a half, I taught the Uzbek language, the history of the Usmanid period and a course on the manuscripts of Central Asia at Harvard University (United States).

The event in Khiva serves to promote the cultural and scientific values of Central Asia, at the same time unites representatives of the sphere around a common goal. I would like to inform that in connection with the 580th anniversary of the great thinker Alisher Navoi, we have prepared for publication the book “Modern Uzbek Literature”, consisting of 800 pages. This book will be published soon.
